The dreamhouse

It's been a long work in progress, y'all. Serious blood, sweat and tears (his sweat, my tears, Harlow's bloody, scraped up knees) have shed in the process of transforming this former dark, grungy workshop into a home that felt not only like us but stood as a testament to Caleb's old world, hands-on ethos. There's still work to be done (what house is ever finished?) but I think we're reached a good, comfortable place. And because the local paper came out to do a story on Caleb's work, you are never going to see this joint as clean as this again. Here's a sneak peek of the transformation!

  1. Stunning! That is quite a transformation. I love Murphy's head peeking out from behind the chair and the fact that I was with you in LA when you bought that altar to alcohol consumption.

  2. I think I shorted out my keyboard, what with all the drool. I would love to reblog the goodness, if I may...

  3. @Lex - that's right! I loved that store. That block. That town. Le sigh.

    @Molly - yay! Absolutely!!

  4. LOVE it so, a medal for your hard work! My husband and I have been ripping apart and putting back together on and off for 8 years, and I'm getting ready to ombré paint and install our treads, so I was so pleased to see an example. Quick question, about how much paint did it take for each tread? Did you get each color mixed or did you just keep adding white? I'm thinking of going with yellows and yours turned out so lovely I'm even more convinced its the right choice. I'm going to script on color names at the end too, so we'll see. Anyway, totally feel the blood, sweat, and tears thing. Way to persevere!
